• never heard of this before the Mister it seems to be related to the TRS-80 but that one takes .cas files
• thanks to my main man Inufuto the multi-platform retro tensai we get to see this , also :
• i found instructions that said "open osd, load .c10 (cassette image), REWIND(! hardcore simulation core) PRESSPLAYONTAPE (wait ... if you like you can turn on tape visualization and sound to see its not locking), then type CLOAD wait and type RUN but
• the inufuto instruction lists the commands "CLOADM" and "EXEC" if i use CLOAD it gives "fm error?" question mark included but CLOADM works, at least for the one game tested so far but we'll add more as we pass by, the Alice isnt a priority but as computer museums go this is certainly a precious core to the geek of us
• havent found anywhere that has post 2020 MC-10 games but inufuto but the dude (i assume dude) seems to code everything for 20 platforms at once so the others like hopman anti air and more probably will be available too - we will see when we pass by , glad we found something to run on it finallly its been biting !!! now MORE CORES!

• "Amiga" has become a name that spans a lot of machines including machines that never were an Amiga or close. Here on "mistercompatlist" its A500 or A1200 base, which i think is motorola 68000 or M68020, apollo rigs and over are not counted, memory configs are as provided by the cores
• As with "DOS"games which is actually AO486 (core) it could be suggested to look out on the forums (or your usual channels for prefab configs like Amigavision, if its listed here it will be accesible using amigavision config but not exclusive to we never had one its not one of our prime machines and if we want more polygons our RTX 3070 still wins
• .adf usually are inserted via OSD (also if you boot to amigavision config) and pressing or choosing reset in OSD and boot from there
• .lha files need to be put into a folder named "shared" which is available under the Amiga or Amiga500 folder in games/ (i assume ftp::/media/fat/games/
• you will need .lha and extract it there (usage : lha x "insertnamehere")
• zipfolders should be unzipped to the same shared folder too and the respective executable can be launched with doubleclick from there
• last version : Amigavision 2024 08 tried and tested (cd32 edition) but havent had the chance to find and try one or more cd32 games to try on it yet, will update as and when it happens
• as we just figured after so many months now : we wont be testing .adf images that are actually IN amigavision ( ... /slap self) b/c those games all work ofcourse, du-uh so the actual list here might be a lot shorter than it already is in reality , just get Amigavision and whats not in there can be tested, the newer stuff but a lot of that is non-free (aka "pay your own price") so im not sure how much they'll include in the future...
• i use mFPGA exclusively (solely?) for all others xept c64 atari ST and Jaguar so in other cores its either work or doesnt

• Like a lot of cores this handles multiple types of Amstrad computers but the standard setting seems what itch mostly programs for
• This is "C64-like" interface so you have to type commands (DOS-like if you like your -likes)
• .cdt is loaded in sequence :
• 1) type "|tape" dont forget the pipe, keyboard relative but here it works only using the left shift button
• 2) type "cat" to list the contents (unless you know the name of the file to load)
• 3) type ' RUN"xxxTHENAMEherexxx i dont think its case sensitive but i had once on coloco where it wouldnt but that might have been a glitch, press ENTER and wait to have the core realtime simulate the loading (i think)
• .dsk is loaded in sequence
• 1) after reset its standard set to disk a (if you need otherwise use "|b" or "|a" to switch back to drive a: (and aforementioned "|tape" to load from tape, you NEED the pipe symbol
• 2) type "cat" to list (load "$",8;LIST on a C64)
• 3) type ' RUN"xxxTHENAMEherexxx usually the first name in the list , at this time no idea if CPC supports wildcards and if so what they are , on coloco ' RUN"COLOCO* didnt work
• the rest is a basic programming interpreter i suppose we havent cloned the body or have access to a separate dimension to hyperthread testing cores in the museum in Janes OnderGron, maybe when Klaatu lands

• assuming you have a keyboard attached when using computer cores : for this one open osd, attach .xex (or other) and press F10 to run it
• standard is assumed "64kb" otherwise we try to mention specific settings per game-item in the list
• its a bit confusing and we never had any real life xp with these machines but I THINK this core works for Atari 400/800/XL/XE machines (or should or is supposed to)
• .xex files mostly we tried and some .atr
• one issue we found is the keyboard conflicts with the Misters OS-level screenshot keyboard-combo so its not possible to make screenshots using SYS-prtscr (unless theres a workaround we dont know about)
• takes quite a while to load but probably not longer than "the real thing" the problem as usual is the mister has a led that indicates SD card access but that doesnt equal driveled on the machine the core represents so often what looks like a black screen due to lack of tape/drive sound or visuals (if you have a datasette you SEE the tape rotating if you have a drive you her the heads moving about - i only heard VICE doing an actual emulated drive sound but maybe theres others, THE MISTER SURE COULD USE THAT ON A LOT OF CORES) so it looks like it hangs but actually what you need is 1980s patience while it loads ... it WORKS, just have to wait a little as theres no "loading" screen or indicator - this goes for a LOT of computercore games and not just on the Atari 800/xl core here) ... maybe move this to .inf
• newer games, as we mostly do post 2020 here seem to work less and less on Atari800 and MSX cores, in some cases using memory setting above 128 helps but mostly if it wont boot we dont spend an hour trying out every single configuration. A lot of the time these are scene-prods and a lot of the time they dont really come with "specs" like "this is for an XL with 128kb or soomething something with rambo 367 ..." otherwise it might be easier but we think its mostly incompatibility due to the cores being built around games from 80s and 90s and not really built to represent the machine perfectly as is ... bem ..
• as with all things these settings apply to use on misterfpga (original de10 fullstack version) - its possible real hw or emulators dont require the same settings
• Since 202503 all new ones have been tested on the mod core available at Mister FPGA forums , until this becomes the mainstream or a combined version is updated - the mod core seems to offer more compatibility with newer games.

• unless otherwise stated "vom" here equals stock ST 512kb TOS 1.0
• if it says "enhanced:" it means "runs on aforementioned BUT recommended = " , if its STE-only or 1024kb or tos 1.04 minimum it says so
• apparently more info needed : this means : this is a compat-list if the game is listed it works on mister fpga, the config is the minimum possible tested, that DOES NOT MEAN it wont run better on for instance an STE with a blitter 4mb of ram, its up to the player to experiment BUT if we PLAY games and find out we will add it
• TOS versions : try to list the TOS that seems to be needed to run on "real hw" ... i believe if memory serves when using emutos it goes : 256 for ST / 512 for STE / 1024 for ... falcon and TT perhaps
• the joystick problem : we have found that a lot of ST games dont work with the Arcade Stick (somewhat neo-geo style but rewirable) we got here but a cheap €25 gamepad that has two settings that can switch i believe its ( "x" / "direct input") makes it work ... which one exactly i dont know since we lost the manual so if it doesnt try a different controller or else remove the mouse theres stuff on the forums about the mouse conflicting with joystick input on real hw as well and a core should actually reflect that just like the real double dragon core includes the real lag from the real arcade machine (if it's accurate that is)
• today (20241006) we discovered another "why mister computer cores have been left to dry" issue , as we dig deeper and deeper back into the ST-verse : games that use the jagpad-ports on the STE dont have support on the mister core b/c the mister core/ virtual machine is like an STE who doesnt have jagpad ports (well at least i couldnt find them in the OSD) ... it possible theres a setting somewhere but the mist core itself on github, at time of writing seems to have had its last update 6 to 9 years ago. So again ... other than 80s-90s retro games Hatari or STEEM for Atari ST/e/mega/TT/Falcon emulation is probably your better bet.(we tried a game named r0x and r0x zero (same site , you can search it) and there was no way to select menu items using the joypad on either setting ("x" or the other one and swap joystick yes/no) but it would usually only apply to newer games anything as old as yo momma will probably run just fine
• as with all games listed , if they are not under "finished" they didnt get a full playthrough, minimally past the splash into the first screen after start + moving
• .stx files dont work on a mister so if its the only thing available Hatari is required (or an oldskool cracker)
• "*" as rating in the Atari ST (not finished Atari ST) section here means "check out later to rate"
• convert .msa to .st (mister-usable floppy image) files
• as for hard-drive conversions wed suggest to just use Hatari load a folder as gemdos (add gemdos to the last letter, theres a checkbox), load one of those 512mb .vhd images in ACSI, then just copy the folders, openclose and quit, upload or copy to the mister card and then you can add the drive but probably need tos 1.02 or higher for that, depending on partition size, dont think tos 1.0 can handel 512mb partitions if it can do hard disks at all, cant say cuz i dont have a hard chip tos 1.00 here, only 1.06, 1.62 and 2.06 (got some spares btw)
• it would be awesome if we could clone another body to do AtariVision like AmigaVision but we fear that will be out of scope for this life unless we stop doing other stuff
• i'll add this here : two weeks after re-acquiring a real STE after 35 or something years we have to conclude : if you're into knutselen (...lol...) get the real thing, personally i got it for programming and music mostly. If all you want is to play games on the ST a mister is probably your better bet for less stress ... but thats only if all you want is to play games. I havent really found one that doesnt work yet, but i find a lot that arent compatible with the specific real-hw configuration i have here. Which is no problem, unless i would have bought it as a game-console, no a computer ... i cant speak for the clone-wars since the only thing that gets coverage is arcade cores with very rarely one of the pop-consoles from the 90s wether ST core works on it the same or not no clue, this is an original de-10 nano with all options included before there were clone wars. Also have no intention of buying several types of the same thing b/c to us that gets us nothing, no added value or benefit

• preferred order : CRT if no saves -> .d64 if available, .prg if only option -> .tap, if an enhanced (bugfix, not trainer) scene version is used it is mentioned
• other explanation -per game- if needed or applicable, we test usually everything that we find on the partition so we will not mention that "easyflash works but no i/o" anymore and only if we find .d81 or .tap not to work give it a specific

• despite that, unless you're one of the core developers its perhaps better to look around for a prefab setup on the mister fpga forums or ... your standard channels i guess
• The mister core is not actually DOS however, its AO486 which is the hardware that ran dos mostly back then its not limited to but atm the only OS we have as a setup to run on it, hence these games are "DOS"

• the core names we use are "aslisted in the mister directory in the OSD" this core has more settings than an amstrad or XL , it handles MSX1 and 2 (the ones we have), so the core named "MSX" in the mister folder list (the one that uses only .vhd images) , actually no idea which one that is but i dont think its MSX3 ... but it could be we'll get there sometime
• well try to add the settings but the core seems a mite unstable
• The road to a phd in computer history seems not to be paved with real hardware if you are a bum stuck in een gat. There seem to be some roms that require something called v9990 chip as we found out trying Ghosts 'n Goblins (2020) (.rom) when it said v9990 chip missing. MAYBE its in there somewhere but thats another we havent found yet. I think i start to get why the devs go for arcade : its the easiest of the three lol , that and the in-crowd is willing to pay for "runs on my Mister doesnt even care if they have to rewire the virtual machine to fit into the mister as long as it runs on my Mister out of scope and offtopic tho it might be its relevant to computer cores never getting what they need to be, in case of MSX its starting to show as we move along very well here.
• sometimes you'll need roms that are some kind of expansion to the original machine, the dumps dont come with updateall afaik and no clue on the lobbyrights so we dont have them linked, for paloma you need some kind of soundplayer rom for instance. Like what existed for the printer port on the Atari ST (definitely not something the mister core handles, just like easyflash IO on the c64)
• 23/02 seems to handle most but we have two newer ones , the forum is your friend if you wanna hardcore-mister an MSX , otherwise an emulator or the real thing is probably better if you actually had one or so

• mostly .tap 48k or 128, in most cases for neo-retro (= post 2020 in JoGlingo) 48k is the hard retro while the 128versions usually have a soundtrack (chiptunes kost kb and thats a fact)
• to do .DSK i think you need to open OSD and set to +3 or something well add when we pass by there sometime

• at 20241003 : didnt notice the mister had a ZX Next core ... personally we still wonder what the next has to do with a spectrum, it basicallly has everything a zx didnt have so its like totally nothing like it, its got what 512 hardware sprites ? hardware scrolling ? full pixel control full color - o wait : 128 hardware sprites (lol how is that a spectrum zx follower?) IT HAS A COPPER (a bit likethe amige, actually more or less the same at a glance, DMA sound by hardware, HARDWARE tilemaps (somewhat akin to the c64 pet screen modifiable charset, everythingthe zx spectrum didnt have) its more like a fantasy console so we never considered it b/c its nothing to do with any kind of retro computer
• as it turns out the mister core is there but its one of those .vhd things, .tap is probably there to play old zx tapes - So what you need to : you take the boot.vdh (it comes with the pack as a zipfile on your sd card it seems or else you download it from the zx next github page , preferably just use DOS(8 10 or 11) and just mount it, in linux you need to install extra stuff which you can google if you like. Once mounted copy the .nex files to your "next" folder under games, set OSD to "reset on C change" add .vhd to C and it should give you something that looks like a disclaimer from a windows game store which you can mostly skip (but i think its docs) then you can just browse for the games
• ... now if only we had some free games
• okay, final note for now : in none of the 3 games checked (two demos and a game thats on the vhd) "jump" seems to work, fire does, after configuring joysticks or swapping it still wont jump so the game is unplayable like that if there's a fix its not on top of the forums so maybe sometimes later i doubt we'll be buying many zx next games. Would have been an awesome machine ifit were out in the 90s ... like a euro-Sharp
• if we find a fix we'll put it here but this one is definitely bottom list of the priorities for us (na the jawguy demo doesnt seem to work, it hangs at the title screen ... but theres maybe many settings we're missing out on - maybe with time or maybe not we'll see (or we wont))
